Opinion: California losing its water supply means bold decisions must be made - The San Diego Union-Tribune

If they make oil pipelines and gas pipelines, why don’t we have water pipelines?

Bring us much-needed water and help the eastern flooded areas.

Also, out my back window, I see a gazillion tons of ocean. Why do we only have one desalination plant?

I agree with this letter writer. We are witnessing severe flooding and extreme wildfire conditions at the same time in our country.

When will it be cost effective to siphon flood water to fight drought? Seems like a win-win situation to me.

Not enough water some places. Too much water other places. California has too little. While Oregon usually has too much. How about an aqueduct system from Bend on the Deschutes river or Eugene, Oregon on the Willamette to the start of the California Aqueduct system?

On a map it is about 300 miles.

Forget the bullet train, which we don’t need and lets get water where we do need it — California.

We pump oil and gas all over the country to spread around those resources. It is expensive and potential leaks often have very bad consequences. If a water aqueduct or water pipes leak we get an oasis.

It will be expensive but there is federal money now available for infrastructure. So now is the time.
